‘The catalyst for the ongoing Warrior series was the treatment of women in media coverage both internationally and closer to home. Creating helmets as props Hurl set about producing a series of portraits where her face is partially obscured by the helmet, but the eyes convey a tremendous strength. Hurl portrays women as warriors; mothers, sisters, friends, all affected by horrific acts of violence but often powerless to ease the suffering of loved ones’

We are delighted to invite you to participate to showcase your contemporary video/film art on the theme of Warrior. Our focus is to show a selection of National and International film and video artworks for the duration of 2 weeks in Damer House Gallery, September 2026, Culture Night and Barcelona Loop Festival in mid-November 2026.

This year we will select 3 to 5 Irish/International artists and invite one artist from Barcelona. We are looking for a written proposal (approximate 550 Words) along with 4 stills.

The last day for receiving your written proposal and stills is Thursday 14/05/2026 by 5pm sharp. The film length should be under 9 minutes but no longer than 10 Minutes.
